No, not at this time.
The Voyced platform currently does not support SMS (Short Message Service), and here’s why:
Why is SMS not supported?
SMS might seem simple, but behind the scenes, it’s not part of the SIP or VoIP standard. SIP is designed for voice calls, not for sending text messages.
Here are the key reasons we don’t support it right now:
-
SMS over SIP is not standardised
There is no reliable or universal way to deliver SMS using SIP across different carriers and networks -
Very poor international support
While some domestic carriers offer SMS-like functionality over IP, it’s extremely limited and inconsistent when used internationally -
High risk of message loss or failure
Without a dependable standard, SMS delivery is not guaranteed, which goes against our policy of offering only high-reliability services -
Could impact overall platform stability
Any SMS integration would need to be completely separate and carefully managed to avoid affecting the performance and reliability of core VoIP services
Will Voyced support SMS in the future?
Quite possibly, but only if:
-
We can guarantee reliable message delivery
-
The service meets our quality and security standards
-
We can offer it without compromising the rest of our VoIP infrastructure
At this time we are actively working on getting SMS messaging implemented but there is no confirmed plan or timeline for implementing SMS support.
If SMS becomes available in the future, we’ll make sure it works properly and let you know right away.
