Yes, you can use a VPN with Voyced services, and in most cases, it will work just fine.
We’ve tested a variety of VPNs, and as long as the connection is stable, there shouldn’t be any issues with using your Hosted IPPBX, making or receiving VoIP calls, or accessing your Client area securely. (do not use a VPN for your initial purchase though as this may trigger our external fraud checks)
When a VPN might help
Using a VPN can be especially useful if:
-
You're in a location with restricted internet access or VoIP blocking
-
You need extra privacy and encryption for your voice traffic
-
Your ISP applies traffic shaping or throttling on VoIP services
-
You’re travelling or working remotely and want a consistent connection path
Tips for using a VPN with VoIP
-
Choose a VPN with fast, reliable servers
Look for a provider that offers high-speed connections with low latency. This is key for clear audio. -
Select a nearby server
For best voice quality, connect to a VPN server that’s geographically close to you or the VoIP server (e.g. Europe for most Voyced traffic). -
Avoid free VPNs
They often have slow speeds, limited bandwidth, and unstable connections, all of which can harm call quality. -
Check for SIP and RTP support
Not all VPNs handle SIP (for signalling) and RTP (for audio) traffic well. A good VPN will not interfere with these protocols. -
Use a wired internet connection when possible
Wi-Fi is convenient, but a cable connection is more stable when running VoIP through a VPN.
Recommended VPN
We recommend using a tested and reliable VPN that offers:
-
Strong encryption
-
Good performance in most regions
-
Clear terms and easy setup
