What is this SIP standard I keep hearing about?

The term SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, and it’s the global standard for setting up voice and video calls over the internet.

In simple terms, SIP is the “language” VoIP devices use to communicate. It’s like the grammar rules that make sure phones, apps, and phone systems all understand each other, no matter the brand or provider.

At Voyced, we fully adhere to the SIP standard, which means:

  • You can use any SIP-compliant hardware or software with our services.

  • Your phones, apps, and systems will work out of the box, no need for complex reconfiguration.

  • You’re not locked into specific brands or devices. You have freedom and flexibility.

Whether you're using a desktop phone, a softphone app, or integrating VoIP into your own platform, SIP makes it possible.

Bonus tip: SIP-compliant devices are widely available and come in all shapes and sizes, from mobile apps to high-end conference phones. Because of the SIP standard, these devices can easily connect to our Hosted IPPBX platform, giving you a full business-grade telephony setup in minutes.

If you're unsure which device or setup works best for you, our team is happy to guide you, and we even offer a small selection of carefully chosen devices that deliver excellent value.
