Displaying another outbound DID / telephone number (not the account DID)

Yes, in some cases you can, but there are important conditions.

By default, when you make a call through Voyced, the Caller ID shown is the same DID (number) assigned to your account. This is the cleanest and safest option.

However, if you'd like to show a different number, such as your company’s main line, this can be arranged, as long as it meets strict requirements.

What are the allowed options?

There are 3 Caller ID (CLI) display options per DID/account:

  1. Default (Recommended):
Show the DID itself, the number assigned to that line.

  2. Another DID in the same client account:
You can request to display another number from your own Voyced account.
This must be requested by opening a sales ticket titled:
    "Outbound Caller ID adjustment"
    Please include:

    • The DID(s) to be updated

    • The target number you’d like displayed

    • One entry per DID, clearly listed

  3. No Caller ID (anonymous):
    We strongly advise against this.

    • It may be illegal in some countries

    • Many networks now block or reject anonymous calls

    • If you still request it, you must provide a valid reason

    • Any fines or costs incurred due to this will be your responsibility

How long does it take?

Once requested, Caller ID changes are normally implemented within 1 working day, and there is no extra cost in most cases.

Important notes

1. Avoid hiding your number

Many countries and carriers now reject calls without a proper Caller ID.
Some countries have even banned anonymous calls completely.

So even if we allow anonymous mode for you, there's a strong chance the calls won’t be accepted, and we won’t be able to investigate the issue unless a valid Caller ID is set.

2. Want to show a number not on your Voyced account?

In special cases, we may allow this, but you’ll need to:

  • Pass extra security checks

  • Prove ownership of the number

  • Send a recent phone bill showing the number and your company details

This is to prevent abuse, spoofing, and misrepresentation.

3. Ordering only SIP Trunks or internal DIDs?

If you're not ordering standard DIDs but still want to show a number you own, please go through the Caller ID setup process with us.
We’ll guide you and request the documents needed to verify ownership.

4. Important for European traffic (EU CLI rules)

  • Calls within or into Europe are now often filtered based on CLI rules

  • Calls with missing, incorrect, or non-EU Caller IDs may be charged at higher rates

  • If our carrier charges us more because of an invalid CLI you’ve used, we’ll pass those charges on to you

To avoid this, always use a valid and accurate CLI, preferably an EU-based number when calling EU destinations.

5. Forbidden Caller ID: Voyced Internal DIDs

It is strictly forbidden to use a Voyced Internal DID (e.g. an extension number) as your Caller ID.
Doing so may result in blocked calls, account suspension, or additional charges.

We’re happy to help you set the right Caller ID for your needs.
Just reach out via a sales ticket, and we’ll guide you through the safest and most compatible setup.
