What is POE and do I need it?

POE stand for 'Power Over Ethernet' which means that a device Could get it's power through its network cable rather than through a separate power supply.
This would eliminate the cost of buying separate power supplies for each device (as they are generally not included as standard anymore) and the need to have a power socket near to each device.

You will need:
- a POE capable switch and you would Only connect POE capable devices to the POE ports of that switch
Or
- you could buy POE injection devices, but the standard power supply for that device may well be cheaper in this case.
