How many concurrent calls / channels are included with a DID?

The number of default simultaneous Inbound, Internal and/or Outbound varies per type of number:

Take note: The maximum number of concurrent Outbound tracks per number stands at well over 1.000, as a standard option, at this time.

1) Standard DIDs/Telephone
numbers start off with 1 simultaneous Inbound and 1 simultaneous Outbound but are cheap and easily upgradeable to 2 simultaneous Inbound and more.

2) TollFree numbers come with 10 simultaneous Inbound tracks as standard and cheaply and easily expandable further.
Note that this type of number will usually only be guaranteed to receive calls from the same country and that Outbound calls with this caller ID are usually prohibited (a Standard DID to do so would be advised)

3) UIFN numbers come with 10 simultaneous Inbound tracks as standard and cheaply and easily expandable further.
Note that this type of number will usually only be guaranteed to receive calls from the same country and that Outbound calls with this caller ID are usually prohibited (a Standard DID to do so would be advised)

4) Inbound Only numbers come with however many Inbound and Outbound tracks are ordered with them. This type of solution is cheaply and easily expandable further.

5) Shared cost numbers come with however many Inbound and Outbound tracks are ordered with them. Note: We do not currently accept new orders for this type of solution.

6) Elastic Pool Solution numbers come with however many Inbound and Outbound tracks are ordered with them and will usually start with 25 or 50 as an initial minimum. This type of solution is cheaply and easily expandable further.

7) Mobiel VoIP numbers start off with 1 simultaneous Inbound and 1 simultaneous Outbound but are cheap and easily upgradeable.

8) Specials start off with 2 simultaneous Inbound and 1 simultaneous Outbound but are cheap and easily upgradeable and expandable even further.

9) Extensions or Voyced Internal DIDs/Numbers are available from 1 simultaneous Outbound/Internal track but are cheap and easily upgradeable and expandable.

10) SIP Trunks are available from 10 simultaneous Outbound/Internal tracks but are cheap and easily upgradeable and expandable.

As a further example/explanation:

Each Standard DID will come with 1 VoIP inbound/outbound channel as a default so will be able to have 1 concurrent call.

There are ways to expand this depending on what you need.

1) You need more IPPBX VoIP channels

(to be able to set up more concurrent outbound and/or internal calls or handle more calls coming into the IPPBX).

In this case, you could add Voyced Internal numbers or SIP Trunks.

Please note: Voyced Internal numbers give you the advantage that each is a full-blown separate VoIP account and can therefore be treated as a separate endpoint. We would always recommend making sure that each device you want to connect is treated as a separate endpoint for stability, ease of configuration and functionality reasons. For more info on Voyced Internal numbers, check here.

2) You need to be able to set up more concurrent calls coming in.

For the Standard DIDs, you can add a 2nd simultaneous incoming line very cheaply and easily.

I many cases you can add many more inbound tracks but this may depend on the options available for that DID and this may influence the price too.
For the options available, please see the ordering system as this will give you both the options and the correct price for the telephone number in question.

For any DID there is a limit to the amount of concurrent incoming tracks/calls that the specific DID will be allowed to handle, depending on how many Inbound Tracks you bought for that telephone number.

If you need more than that, there are a few options:

a) Get in touch with us about Inbound Only numbers. You can still call with those numbers too but the Tracks/Channels are counted very differently.

b) Purchase more geographic or national numbers in that region and link them together in the IPPBX.

c) Purchase additional extra incoming channels for that region/country.

d) Purchase CC DIDS which are specifically meant for high volume incoming calls and can be upgraded and expanded easier, further and cheaper.

If you are not sure what you need, get in touch and tell us what you're plans and needs are and we will be able to recommend the best course of action to take.

Do take note that adding inbound tracks does not add full (VoIP) channels, this will only allow that specific DID to receive more concurrent calls coming in. You will need enough VoIP channels to handle the calls in the IPPBX or to be able to forward them.
To be able to use those extra concurrent calls coming in you will need to add standard SIP trunks or Voyced Internal numbers with which you give your IPPBX the extra VoIP channels it needs to be able to properly handle those extra calls coming in on that / those DIDs. Inbound tracks are strictly on a per-DID basis and can not be shared amongst them, but the SIP Trunks and Voyced Internal numbers are at IPPBX level and are shared amongst all DIDs in your account.

For example: if you have 1 standard DID and 1 CC DID you will 1 inbound track for the standard DID and 4 inbound tracks for the CC DID and 2 VoIP channels. This will mean that a 3rd call might be able to reach the CC DID but the IPPBX won't be able to handle it as both VoIP channels are occupied. Adding SIP trunk and/or Voyced Internal numbers will add the VoIP channels the IPPBX needs to handle concurrent calls after those first 2 are occupied.
