We would like to inform you that on November 30th, 2021 the format of all Colombian geographical DID numbers will be changed by adding the prefix “60” automatically.
The reason for this change:
The Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) (the Colombina authority that governs all telephony) announced last September (2021) that they have started implementing the national numbering plan with the purpose of unifying the length for landline and cell phone numbers. With the change contemplated in the regulation, the country will have a scheme in which 10 digits will be dialed to make all kinds of calls from landlines and cell phones to any phone number.
Before the change, the telephone dialing was of different length, depending on the type of call:
7 digits for local landline calls,
10 and 12 digits for national long distance calls,
12 digits from landline to mobile and
10 digits from mobile to landline and between mobiles.
The new implementation process has been such that, starting last September, the dialing between fixed lines, as well as between landlines and cell phones became very similar.
"Recognizing the reality of fixed networks in the country and the need to modernize them in accordance with international standards, Colombia will implement a new dialing scheme that will unify the length of fixed and mobile telephone numbers.
Users will have a period of 3 months to appropriate the changes and adopt this new dialing scheme.“, assured the Communications Regulatory Commission.
What does this mean for Voyced clients and their Colombian number?
This means that on the 30th of November 2021, between 6 am and 11 am BST/7 am and 12 am CET we will adjust all our Columbian numbers to this new format.
We will do so by adjusting the number in our systems so that all history and settings, apart from the actual number, will remain identical.
Please make sure that your numbers are properly updated and configured in any system after the given time frame in order to avoid any service outages.
We would like to remind you that all Colombian geographical DID numbers will be extended by adding a new prefix “60”, as follows (examples):
International calls to Bogota: +57 601 XXX XXXX
Local calls to Bogota from any landline: 601 XXX XXXX
Local calls to Bogota from mobile: 601 XXX XXXX
